Eastenders Opening Title Sequence

Camera Work:
· An aerial shot of the river Thames and surrounding London area, establishes setting and gives regional familiarity.
· Camera slowly spins anti-clockwise and pans out giving larger view of central London.
· This bird’s eye view represents the audience watching in on the fictional lives of the characters in Eastenders.
Sound:
· The Eastenders theme is a short, easy to remember and distinguishable theme tune which notifies avid viewers and even many people who don’t watch it that the programme is starting.
· It starts with a few hard monotone drum sounds followed by a lighter melody which fades to signify the beginning of the programme.
Mise En Scene:
· We see various landmarks of central London; we know this from the winding river Thames, Millennium Dome amongst other landmarks.
Editing:
· The only real use of editing is the anti-clockwise spinning of the camera and the fade that occurs once the episode is about to begin.
